OUTFIT POST: Dorothy Perkins Pussybow Blouses

I hope you've all been enjoying the sun the last few weeks! The sun and lush weather is always an excuse for us to all buy new clothes, even if we don't really need them! I know that the last few months I've purchased a good few new bits and this post gives you an insight into my love for Dorothy Perkins Pussybow Blouses!
Being a size 6, I find it really hard to find pretty clothes that fit well and at a decent price. However, working where I do means that I have access and availability to find beautiful pieces in the size I want without trawling the Internet. Dorothy Perkins is a brand that I love because of their pieces, styles and the fact they come in small sizes 4 and 6! Lately, I've indulged in a few pussybow blouses that are light for the Summer season and can also be worn for a few drinks out in the evening.

Dorothy Perkins Petite Blue Gypsy Top £22 - Size 6
All 3 pussybow blouses are made of polyester, making them light and cool in the sun and heat. Because they're quite thin, you can see underneath the top through to what I'm wearing underneath, although due to the patterns, if you're only wearing a bra it's not noticeable!
I love wearing my Petite Pink Bow Top with my pink jeans because I love the girly look and I love pink! Even though it's part of the Petite range, it fits perfectly even though I thought it may be too short at first! The pink, white and lilac bow pattern means that there is no need for fancy frills.  I'd wear this top shopping into town but also team it with some dark jeans/jeggings for a smarter look in the evening
White doesn't compliment my skin at all, so I try to steer clear, but when I saw the Ivory Heart Ruffle Top with a polka dot and heart pattern I thought it was a good substitute/dupe. White goes with anything, so I have no worries about compiling an outfit with this top. I like to keep this top casual as white can sometimes look too formal and my light wash jeggings are great to keep the look casual. Jeggings are also great pieces to wear when your weight fluctuates and to be honest, I find they fit better than jeans!
The Petite Blue Gypsy Top is also part of the Petite range and again is a perfect fit. The blue and white colour palette is great to match with a range of pieces such as my blue wash jeggings and also a white pair of jeans/jeggings/shorts! The floral print is great for Summer and the frill adds a girly look to a blue top!
The bows on all blouses keeps them looking casual but giving it a smart look. If I was able to wear my own clothes to work, I would consider wearing all three with a pair of black trousers and a short cropped black blazer to keep in-line with a girly but formal work look. I've worn and washed these blouses many times since having them in the past couple of months and they look brand new still! The colours and material haven't faded, snagged or shrunk and I am very happy with their condition!
Dorothy Perkins have some beautiful Summer pieces in their sale at the moment and I have no doubt their Autumn/Winter range won't disappoint.

MUA Fashionista Plumping Lip Glaze

Plumping Lip Glaze
"Contains Maxi Lip for lip tingling fullness and shine ... non-sticky, vinyl-shine ... subtle shimmering finish"
Fashionista Plumping Lip Glaze - 5 ml - £5.00
MUA's Fashionista Lip Plumping Glaze is another purchase from their huge Summer sale (July 2013). I've never been a lover of gloss because I was afraid of them leaving that dreaded sticky feeling on my lips, not to mention when it's windy your hair gets covered in it..
But after seeing MUA's new Fashionista range and their Plumping Lip Glaze on sale from £5.00 to £1.25 I couldn't say no as it was worth a try! As seen with MUA's Fashionista Double Take Long-Wear Lipstick, the shiny red colour theme is carried through to the Plumping Lip Glaze giving the impression of a more expensive product.
Fashionista Plumping Lip Glaze - Pretty in Pink & Coral Couture

Carrying the shiny theme through the Fashionista range, the Plumping Lip Glaze's are labelled on the front transparent tube with silver shiny text. This high-end look helps MUA create the impression of a range that can compete with other cosmetic brands in drug stores and on the high street.

The Lip Glaze's are labelled on the lid at the side and if you pull off the top part of the barcode, a clear label is visible displaying the range name and the shade, although the transparent packaging of the Lip Glaze's mean that the colours are easy to identify. The transparent tubes also allow you to see how much you have left so you don't have any unexpected surprises when getting ready for a day/night out.

The tubes are larger than normal. They are quite fat to hold and store although this doesn't impact on the application as the thin applicator top helps applying the glaze quite easy.
Fashionista Plumping Lip Glaze - Pretty in Pink
Fashionista Plumping Lip Glaze - Coral Couture
I purchased the Plumping Lip Glaze in two shades, Pretty in Pink Shade 1 and Coral Couture Shade 4. These shades are two of five available from the Fashionista Range which come in shades similar to a nude to a bright fuscia pink. When opened, the application rod stick looks quite sticky, although this might be normal for glosses as I don't usually use them! Although I must say, the applicator wasn't too thick with the glaze so it made it okay to apply.

Pretty in Pink (Shade 1) looks subtle and even the swatch gives the impression of a subtle pink shade, although when applied on my lips the shade was very metallic/shiny and less pink.

Coral Couture (Shade 4) is exactly what is says, a coral shade. When applied the glaze looked very shimmery, too much for my liking and as the colour was quite pigmented, it didn't suit my skin tone.

Both shades are enriched with a shimmer and Maxi Lip which enhances the lip volume and look but The glaze's also didn't taste very nice. I know you're not supposed to eat them, obviously, but when you lick your lips or talk and you do accidentally catch some, it wasn't very nice! They were, as I hoped they wouldn't be, quite sticky :( They were also quite hard to take off, leaving a shimmer behind on my arm from the swatches and on my face. I personally found the shimmer a bit too much and would probably prefer a clear gloss glaze over a lipstick to a Lip Glaze.

RATING
Price; 4 STARS £5 is okay for a gloss and at £1.25 I couldn't say no to giving it a go!

Promises; 5 STARS As stated on the tube, Fullness and Shine was definitely seen! The metallic shiny glaze helped the look of plumper lips, although I though the shiny look was too much.

Ease of Application; 4 STARS Even though the tubes were quite fat, the long thin applicator stick made it easy to apply.

Would I Recommend to a Friend?; NO I personally found the shimmer shine too much. The colour was lost int he shine and the swatches look better than what I saw on my lips. I think I'll stick to MUA's Lipsticks!

MUA Fashionista Double Take Long-Wear Lipstick

MUA recently launched heir Fashionista range. it's more expensive than their main brand but after a couple of weeks going live in their website, the range also went into their huge Summer sale! A lot of products were 70% off, so I naturally indulged in some cosmetic retail therapy.
Double Take Long-Wear Lipstick
" Lusciously creamy in texture, full-pigmented, modern matte finish ... hydrating for maximum comfort for high impact, velvety smooth lips"
Fashionista Double Take Long-Wear Lipstick Baby Doll Pink & Atomic Tangerine - 2g - £7.00
MUA's Double Take Long-Wear Lipstick is priced at £7.00 but I purchased them at £1.50 in the sale (July 2013) - bargain! Even though I have never bought anything 'high end', I felt like I was buying something high end because of the aesthetics of the lipstick. I was naturally drawn to the shiny red look of the lipstick which made it look expensive and classy.

Fashionista Double Take Long-Wear Lipstick - Baby Doll Pink Shade 3 & Atomic Tangerine Shade 9
The lipsticks are packaged in a little black box to protect the shiny red shell of the lipstick. The shiny red band at the bottom of the box packaging ties in the colour theme quite well and compliments the shell if the lipstick too. The top of each box is also labelled with the shade and a colour swatch to help find it amongst other shades! The lids of the lipsticks are also labelled with the shade and colour swatch if you wish to store them out of their box packaging.
The lipsticks are small, but a 'cute' small. Their size makes them easy to store in my handbag and they don't take up unnecessary room! I love how the lids are really secure. I find that some lids of other brands of lipstick become quite loose and come off really easily.

MUA Fashionista Double Take Long-Wear Lipstick - Baby Doll Pink Shade 3

MUA Fashionista Double Take Long-Wear Lipstick - Atomic Tangerine Shade 9
I bought 2 shades of MUA's Double Take Long-Wear Lipstick; Baby Doll Pink (shade 3) and Atomic Tangerine (shade 9). These two shades are only a glimpse of what amazing names each lipstick has, I recommend you check them out!

Baby Doll Pink (Shade 3) and Atomic Tangerine (Shade 9) Swatch
Baby Doll Pink is the most subtle of all the pink shades available in this range and when first opened you'd think it was too pink, but when applied to the lips the colour is really subtle and pretty for Summer.
Atomic Tangerine is extremely pigmented which gives the impression it's too rich in colour but is more subtle when applied. Both shades give the impression of a high end cosmetic product.
Both shades glide on effortlessly and don't look too matte or too greasy!
The colours fill in my lips really well compared with other brands where it leaves a tide mark were you're applied it. After application you don't even know you've applied it as it's so light! I love these colours so much! The shades aren't too pigmented to wear for work or for a night out, they're a great substitute for any high end lipstick in my opinion!
RATING:
Price; 3 STARS The original price of MUA's Double Take Long-Wear Lipstick is £7.00 - considerably more than their £1 range of lipsticks although I purchased these in their Summer Sale for £1.50, that's a bargain!! I think I would buy one every so often as they're lovely to use and feel great on my lips!

Promises; 5 STARS The lipsticks are very pigmented adding to the high end look. They don't leave my lips feeling or looking matte or greasy, just a perfect combination!

Ease of Application; 5 STARS The Double Take Long-Wear Lipstick's glide on effortlessly. Their small size may be looked upon as a drawback but this made them really easy to hold when applying them.

Would I Recommend to a Friend?; YES Anyone looking for a substitute dupe for a high end lipstick- I recommend you try MUA's Fashionista range out! The aesthetics of the packaging, pigmented colour and feel of the lipsticks blew me away and are great value for money.
